Elderberry Syrup made simple
This simple, easy to make elderberry syrup will keep your family healthy all winter long. Much cheaper than Amazon, easier than microwave popcorn, and oh so beneficial. - 2 cups dried elderberries
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 4 cups water
- 1 Tbs whole cloves
- 1.5 cups pure raw honey
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Ingredients

- Place dried elderberries, cinnamon sticks and cloves in cold water
- Slowly bring elderberries to a low boil
- Reduce heat and keep mixture just below a simmer, uncovered, for 2 to 3 hours. (just steaming no bubbling)
- After 2 hours, remove from heat, smash berries with potato masher or similar smasher
- Strain berry mixture through cheese cloth into another pan
- Allow mixture to cool until just barely warm and then add honey
- Add 1 teaspoon of real lemon juice
- Stir lemon juice, honey an elderberry juice together well
- Bottle and refrigerate
